Today we all rode the short distance from Sayward Junction to Kelsey Bay for a bit of sightseeing and to look at the logistics of preparing 1000s of tonnes of logs for further processing.
There was log truck after log truck fully loaded with cedar, spruce, and other species which were then unloaded, sorted and then bundled in readiness to drop into the water holding bay. It was great to watch the little but very powerful log barges direct and coral the logs into the right location. It was not unlike watching a dog working a big mob of sheep.
I have added some photos that try to take you through the whole process. It was fascinating to watch all of this happening in the one location.
